About PinFlag Analytics

PinFlag is an iOS golf app that shows live predictive strokes gained on the hole you are playing: pick any target and see the number before you swing, with your own dispersion drawn on the hole.

Strokes gained is the framework Mark Broadie built and professional golf runs on: every shot compared to a baseline, so you can see exactly where strokes come from. PinFlag puts that number on the shot you are about to hit, with your own dispersion drawn on the hole.

PinFlag Analytics LLC is an independent company in Houston, Texas. We build for golfers who want the number, and for the coaches and facilities who develop them.

The company holds two positions that shape everything on this site. The first is that the number arrives before the swing: PinFlag prices every target you consider, with your own dispersion and the lie read from the course, so the decision is made with the cost of each option in front of you. The second is that a number should say what stands behind it. Every figure is labelled Measured when it comes from your own data and Estimated when a benchmark is standing in, and the two are never blended.

The arithmetic is public and we show it. The methodology page prints the baselines, the categories and a worked hole, and the same numbers that price a target on the course run the free calculators on this site.

The same discipline applies to the comparison pages. Every competitor fact is checked against that company’s own website with the date recorded, and the roundup sets out, with prices and sources, what PinFlag does that the field does not: the number before the swing on any target, your real pattern drawn on the hole, and the lie read from the course.
