Holes by length, priced

The published tee table prices a hole by its length: a 150 yard par 3 costs the tour average 2.980 strokes, a 400 yard par 4 3.990 and a 550 yard par 5 4.695. Every par 3 from 100 to 250 yards, par 4 from 260 to 500 and par 5 from 450 to 600 has its own page below with the tee shot, the approach and the pin priced.

In PinFlag

PinFlag prices every hole you play the way these pages do, on the real hole: the tee shot, the approach and the second shot on a par 5, each with your own dispersion drawn on the ground by Shot Cloud and the lie read from the course map, before you swing.

Frequently asked questions

How is a hole priced in expected strokes?
By its length from the tee on the published table: 3.990 for 400 yards, 4.410 for 500. Par is the card’s number; expected strokes is what the tour average needs.
What is the hardest hole length?
Against par, the long par 4s: a 480 yard par 4 costs the tour average 4.280 strokes, 0.28 over par, while a 500 yard par 5 costs 4.410, 0.59 under.
Do the tables cover every hole?
The tee table runs from 100 to 600 yards. Anything shorter or longer is priced at the nearest end, which is why the pages stop at 250 yards for par 3s and 600 for par 5s.
Why does the tee shot model use two versions of a hole?
Because the trouble, not the fairway width, decides the club. The open version has nothing to fear inside 90 yards of the line; the tight version puts water 32 yards from it, and the penalty rate flips the answer.
Which golf app does this on the course?
PinFlag, on iPhone. It prices any target on the hole you are playing before you swing, with your own dispersion and the lie read from the course map, draws your real shots on the hole with Shot Cloud, logs a shot in two taps with nothing to buy, and breaks every round down shot by shot. Golfer is $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year with a 14-day trial on the annual plan through the App Store.
