The golf app for practice sessions

Practice moves a score only when it reaches the course, and PinFlag connects the two: import a range session and each club becomes a Measured pattern of carries and spread, gapping shows up at once, and the same pattern prices every target on the hole in front of you. Across a season Insights shows which category, band and club is moving, so the next session is aimed at the leak: on the benchmark model a 12 handicap loses 8.5 strokes a round in the long game and 2.0 on the greens.

On the course

The range pattern becomes the on-course number: Shot Cloud draws the session’s shots with the club in hand around the target, the confidence grade says how much data stands behind it, and the strokes gained of the target already reflects the spread you are looking at.

After the round

Insights tells the next practice session what to work on: strokes gained by category to find the leak, proximity by distance band and club to find the range, three-putt frequency and the leave heat map for the greens, short-game proximity by lie. The free launch monitor analyzer on pinflag.io reads a session in the browser and flags gaps in strokes.

Gapping, for a 12 handicap

The handicap model’s carries for a 12 handicap, club by club, with the gap to the next club. A gap over 20 yards is the one a session should look at first; the launch monitor analyzer flags it.

What it costs

Golfer is $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year with every feature included: the number before the swing, Shot Cloud, launch monitor import, two-tap logging, Insights and the benchmark lenses, with a 14-day trial on the annual plan through the App Store. Coach is $80 a month for the coach plus up to ten students and Facility $299 a month for a whole program. The strokes gained, handicap and club distance calculators on pinflag.io are free and need no account.

In PinFlag

Every number PinFlag shows golfers who practise is strokes gained on Mark Broadie’s published PGA TOUR baselines, priced on the same published baselines in the app and on this site and labeled Measured or Estimated so you always know what stands behind it. On the benchmark model a 12 handicap sits 13 strokes a round from the tour average; PinFlag shows which shots.

Frequently asked questions

Which golf app is best for practice?
PinFlag turns a range session into on-course numbers: import it, see per club carry and gapping at once, and let the pattern price every target on the course. Insights then tells the next session which category, band and club to work on.
How do I find my club gaps?
Import a session and the per club carries show a twenty-yard hole between two clubs at once; the free launch monitor analyzer on pinflag.io does the same in the browser and prices the worst distance inside a gap from the published tables.
What should I practise first?
Whatever Insights says is losing the most strokes, which for most golfers is approach play: on the benchmark model a 12 handicap loses 8.5 strokes a round in the long game against 2.0 putting. The lag putt is worth time because a three putt costs a full stroke.
Does on-course data count as practice data?
It counts as the truth: every logged shot records where you aimed and where it finished, so your on-course dispersion sits beside your range pattern in Shot Cloud with each source labeled.
