The golf app for seniors

The age model gives a golfer of 60 a driver carry of about 189 yards and a golfer of 70 180 yards, and the published fairway table prices the lost yards at 0.15 of a stroke per approach at 70. PinFlag replaces the model with your own carries and prices every target on the course with them, so the tee you play and the line you take are decided on your real numbers, in two taps with nothing to charge or wear.

On the course

Distance ages, and the decision that pays is playing targets the real carry reaches. PinFlag prices every target with your own dispersion drawn on the hole by Shot Cloud, and the plays like distance tells you what the club has to cover to the spot you chose, so the lay up short of the bunker and the carry over it are two numbers rather than a guess.

The whole flow is one thumb and two taps, with the map panning under a fixed mark and nothing committed until you confirm; it works with no signal and any tap can be undone.

After the round

Insights shows where the strokes go by category, distance band and club, and a handicap level lens reads the round on your own scale. Preview mode prices a course before you play it, which is the tee choice made with numbers.

Distance by age, priced

The age model eases club head speed by decade and runs it through the published tour carry table; the last column prices the lost carry on the fairway table as an approach played from that much further back.

In PinFlag

Every number PinFlag shows senior golfers is strokes gained on Mark Broadie’s published PGA TOUR baselines, priced on the same published baselines in the app and on this site and labeled Measured or Estimated so you always know what stands behind it. On the benchmark model a 15 handicap sits 16 strokes a round from the tour average; PinFlag shows which shots.

Frequently asked questions

Which golf app is best for seniors?
PinFlag, because it prices every target with your own carries rather than an average, in two taps with nothing to wear or charge, and works with no signal. The lay up and the carry read as two numbers before you choose.
How far does the average 60 year old hit a driver?
About 189 yards of carry and 204 yards total on the age model, at 81 mph of club head speed.
Does losing distance cost strokes?
About 0.09 of a stroke per approach for every 20 yards on the published fairway table, because every approach starts that much further back. Playing a tee that puts approaches back on the flat part of the table recovers most of it.
Is it hard to use on the course?
One number and two taps. The number is the strokes gained of the target under the aim; logging is the target, then where the ball finished, with the club and lie confirmed in one sheet.
