PinFlag shows live predictive strokes gained on the hole you are playing. Pick any target, see the number before you swing.
You play most weeks, you keep a handicap, and you have a rough idea of which part of your game is letting you down. What you do not have is a number for it. Most golfers can name their worst hole from Saturday and could not tell you whether their approach play or their putting cost them more over the season, because the scorecard was never built to say.
The problem
- Your scorecard records what happened and never why. A par that felt flat and a par that saved a hole look identical on it.
- The traditional statistics mislead. Putts per round rewards missing greens, because chipping close leaves shorter putts, and fairways hit counts a 300 yard drive into light rough the same as a 180 yard duff into the fairway.
- Decisions get made on feel. Going at a tucked pin costs an accurate striker about 19 percentage points of greens hit and a wild one almost nothing, and neither golfer usually knows which they are.
- Practice goes to the wrong place. A 15 handicap gives up around 10.4 strokes a round in the long game across 14 shots against 2.4 on the greens across 30, and the putting green is where most of them spend the hour.
What matters for you
- live strokes gained: Any target’s cost, live, with your lie and your own pattern built in.
- shot tracking: Two taps log a shot, no signal needed, undo anytime.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a launch monitor or sensors to use PinFlag?
No hardware is required. PinFlag reads the lie from the course map and the distance from the pin you placed, and prices every target with a benchmark pattern labeled Estimated from your first round. Importing launch monitor carries or logging rounds makes the pattern yours.
Will it slow down my round?
Logging a shot is two taps, target and result, with club and lie confirmed in a single sheet, and undo is always available. It works with no signal, so it does not stall on the parts of a course with no coverage.
How does it help me choose the shot?
It prices every target you consider, in strokes, before you commit: the flag, the fat side of the green, the layup, each with your own dispersion and the real lie. You add the wind and the situation, and the decision is better for having the number in front of you.
Is this useful if I am a mid handicapper?
Yes. Across handicaps the long game carries roughly two thirds of the gap to a tour field, and a mid handicapper is the golfer with the most strokes to find. PinFlag shows where they go, by category, distance band and lie, and prices every decision on the course before it is made.
