Insights

iOS app

Insights is where every shot you logged becomes a number you can act on: strokes gained by driving, approach, short game and putting, per round and across the season; proximity by distance band and club; a start-position table of distance by lie; Score Killers; three-putt frequency and make rate; a heat map of leaves; landing zones; each hole’s shot trail; and benchmark lenses that reprice the same shots against Tour, Scratch or a handicap level.

Every figure in Insights is derived from the shots you logged and priced on the course, so it explains the score instead of restating it. A round opens as a radar of the four categories and a per-shot list you can sort by start distance, lie or proximity; a season is the same picture across every round, this year against last.

Approach play, the biggest leak in most games, is broken down by distance band and by club: best and median proximity in feet, the share inside 15 and 30 feet, the 68 and 95 percent dispersion circles, and lateral and long-short offsets against the line to the hole. Putting shows three-putt frequency and make rate by distance against the tour expectation (about 1.84 putts from 18 feet), with a heat map of where your leaves finish.

Score Killers totals the shots that cost whole strokes: three-putts, two-chips, penalties and double bogeys. The start-position table crosses distance band with lie and shows greens hit and strokes gained per cell. Landing zones show where your drives actually finish, and each hole’s trail draws the shots on the map. Switch the benchmark lens and every number is repriced against a Scratch or handicap level table, labeled Modeled, so the gains and losses read on your own scale.

What it does

  • Strokes gained by driving, approach, short game and putting on a radar, per round and per season
  • A per-shot list with its own strokes gained, sortable by start distance, lie or proximity, with best and worst shots ranked
  • Fairways, greens in regulation and putts derived from the logged shots
  • Approach proximity by distance band and by club: best, median, inside 15 and 30 feet, 68 and 95 percent dispersion circles
  • A start-position table of distance band by lie with greens hit and strokes gained per cell
  • Short-game proximity by lie, up-and-downs and sand saves that require a real hole-out
  • Three-putt frequency and make rate by distance from your recorded makes
  • Score Killers: three-putts, two-chips, penalties and double bogeys, totalled
  • A heat map of leaves around the hole and landing zones off the tee
  • Each hole’s shot trail drawn on the map, and a scorecard you can share
  • Benchmark lenses: Tour, Scratch or a handicap level, repricing every shot
  • This year against last year, with the same breakdowns across the season

Why it matters

  • A scorecard says what happened. Insights says why: the category, the distance band, the lie and the club where the strokes went.
  • Score Killers names the mistake that decides your score, because a three-putt, a penalty or a double each cost a full stroke on their own.
  • Proximity by band and club shows the shot you should practise, which is rarely the one you feel worst about.
  • The lenses put the same shots on your scale, so a bogey golfer reads gains and losses against a bogey golfer.

How it works

  1. 1

    Log the round

Two taps per shot on the course. Every shot carries its lie, its distance and its strokes gained.

  2. 2

    Open the round

The radar, the shot list, Score Killers, proximity, the heat map and the hole trails are built from those shots alone.

  3. 3

    Change the lens

Reprice the same shots against Tour, Scratch or a handicap level and watch where the round sits on your own scale.

What is different

  • Every number derived from real, priced shots; a round is saved only when every hole and shot is logged.
  • Proximity by band and club with dispersion circles, not a single greens-in-regulation tick.
  • Score Killers and the start-position table point at the decision, not just the category.

Frequently asked questions

What does Insights show?
Strokes gained by category per round and season, a sortable per-shot list, fairways, greens and putts, approach proximity by band and club, a start-position table, short-game proximity by lie, up-and-downs and sand saves, three-putt frequency and make rate, Score Killers, a heat map of leaves, landing zones, hole trails and benchmark lenses.
What is Score Killers?
The card that totals the shots that cost whole strokes: three-putts, two-chips, penalties and double bogeys, per round and across the season. It is the fastest way to see which mistake decides your score.
What is a benchmark lens?
A different expected strokes table for a chosen scoring level, labeled Modeled. Switch from Tour to Scratch or a handicap level and every logged shot is repriced against it, so the numbers read on your own scale while the shots stay exactly as recorded.
Are the stats estimated from my scorecard?
They are computed from the shots you logged, each priced on the course. A round is saved only when every hole and every shot is logged, so no estimate from a card mixes into the numbers, and a rate with too few shots behind it shows the count instead of a percentage.
Does Insights work for nine-hole rounds?
Yes. A nine is priced by its own nine holes and par, and stated per 18 holes when it is combined into a season, so nines and eighteens average together correctly.
