Putting in PinFlag

Every putt placed in feet and priced from its own distance, with make rate, three-putts and the leave heat map.

How does PinFlag measure putting?
On the green you place the leave in feet for every putt, so each is priced from its own distance on the published tour table: 1.626 expected putts from 10 feet, 1.878 from 20, 2.058 from 40. Strokes gained putting is the expected putts from the first putt distance minus the putts you took, summed over the round, and Insights shows it per round and across the season.
Does PinFlag show make rate by distance?
Yes, from your recorded makes rather than an assumption: the share of putts holed from each distance, beside the tour rate the table implies, which is about 37 percent from 10 feet and 12 percent from 20. Where a distance has too few putts for a rate, PinFlag shows the count and waits.
Does PinFlag track three putts?
Yes, by first putt distance, so the range that causes them is visible, and Score Killers totals them with the penalties and doubles because each one costs a full stroke: 1.12 strokes from 20 feet and 0.94 from 40 on the published table.
What is the putting heat map in PinFlag?
A picture of where your leaves finish around the hole, built from the positions you placed. A lag problem shows as leaves scattered long and short, a short putt problem as misses clustered on one side, and the two are different fixes; the heat map tells them apart before the season averages do.
How is a lag putt scored in PinFlag?
By what it leaves. A lag from 40 feet to 3 feet is worth 0.01 against the tour average before the second putt is struck, because the expected putts fall from 2.058 to 1.053. PinFlag prices the first putt from its distance and the second from the leave you placed, so a lag is judged by the leave in feet rather than by whether it dropped.
What is a good strokes gained putting number?
Zero is the tour average. On the benchmark model a 15 handicap sits about 2.4 strokes a round behind it on the greens, which is the smallest of the three leaks; a handicap level lens in PinFlag reprices the same putts so the number reads on your own scale, and the change across a season is the figure worth watching.
Does PinFlag show putts per round?
Yes, derived from the shots you log, beside the number that explains it. Putts per round rewards missing greens, because a chip that finishes close leaves a short first putt, so PinFlag leads with strokes gained putting, three-putt frequency and make rate by distance and prints the count for anyone who wants it.
What does a missed short putt cost?
Missing from 3 feet costs 0.95 strokes on the published table, most of a full stroke, which is why short misses show up in Score Killers. PinFlag records the make or miss from the leave you placed, so make rate from inside 5 feet is your own number.
