Logging shots
One thumb, two taps a shot, and a scorecard that scores itself.
How do you log a shot in PinFlag?
Two taps on the map. First you set the target you are playing to, then, after the shot, you place where the ball finished, and confirm the club and the lie in one sheet. The whole flow is built for one thumb: the map pans under a fixed mark and nothing commits until you confirm. Because each shot records both the target and the result, PinFlag learns your real on-course dispersion from every round as well as pricing the shot, and any tap can be undone.
What are the two ways shots get into PinFlag?
Logged on the course, or imported from a launch monitor. On the course each shot is placed on the map as a target and a result, with club and lie confirmed. From the range, a Trackman, Garmin or Rapsodo file, or any monitor’s CSV, brings whole sessions in as per-club patterns. Both feed the same numbers, both appear in Shot Cloud with their source labeled, and neither is ever blended into the other.
How does PinFlag logging compare with sensor systems like Arccos or club-tag trackers?
PinFlag logs with nothing to buy, charge or clip on: two taps on the map per shot, with the club and lie confirmed in one sheet. Because you place the target before you swing, PinFlag can price the shot before you hit it, which is the number sensor systems can only show afterward. Every shot also carries where you aimed, so your dispersion is measured from real rounds, not just where balls ended up.
What happens if I make a mistake logging a shot?
Undo it. Any shot can be undone, moved or voided, penalties and drops are recorded as strokes, and the round stays consistent because the scorecard is derived from the shots rather than typed beside them. A wrong tap costs a second, never a hole.
Does PinFlag give me a scorecard?
Yes, one that scores itself. Strokes, putts and penalties per hole are derived from the shots you logged, every shot carries its own strokes gained, and the round is a per-shot ledger you can review hole by hole, share as a scorecard, and reprice under any benchmark lens afterward.
Can I play a round in PinFlag without GPS?
Yes. Map placement works with no location fix at all: you place the pin, the target and each finish on the hole by hand, which is also more precise than a phone fix in trees or beside a green. Location, when it is available, simply places you faster.
Does PinFlag have a tournament mode?
Yes. Start a round in tournament mode and PinFlag keeps logging every shot and the distances in full while it holds the live strokes gained back from the display, so the round is captured completely and the full analysis is there the moment you finish. Regular rounds show everything live.
Can I preview a course in PinFlag before I play it?
Yes. Preview mode opens any course in the app with full pricing and no round recorded: place a pin, put the aim on a target, and read the strokes gained and Shot Cloud for the tee shot you are planning, with your own dispersion, before you ever stand on the tee.
